Organic and Regional: Synergy, Cannibalism or cultural difference?
4 pm to 5.30 pm, Hall Shanghai (NCC East), Forum BIOFACH
In Western Europe, a growing number of consumers prefer products that are both organic and regional. As a consequence, more and more supermarkets are introducing a double branding concept. What are the opportunities and challenges of this concept from a market and production point of view, when targeting the domestic and the export market? How do producers react on this new trend and how can consumer awareness be increased? Within this session, we would like to present examples from France, Germany, and Switzerland where both, organic and regional aspects are promoted jointly. The objective is to present individual cases and the lessons learnt from them, and compare the market potential driven by consumer perceptions. The target group involves representatives from both the private and public sectors interested to learn from the cases and in discussing strategies aiming at bringing organic and regional closer together.
